Ana Tijoux isFrench-Chilean Tijoux spent the first half of her life in France w/ her politically exiled parents. She was immediately drawn into the bubbling, anarchic Santiago hip hop scene and in 1997 she and a group of DJs formed the hip hop collective Makiza and they recorded two albums, Vida Salvaje & their Sony-produced Aerolíneas Makiza. Both albums put the group on the world hip hop map. In 2001, Tijoux went back to France, leaving the band and music for several years. When she returned to Chile in 2004, she dove into Chilean funk and mainstream pop.
